I'll Never Know How Much It Cost

There's this song we'll sometimes sing at church. We sang it last Sunday. I'm actually not sure of the title.

There's a part of the song that goes:

"I'll never know
how much it cost
to see my sins
upon that cross"

The choir will lead the congregation in song. And we'll repeat this particular phrase several times, right near the end.

And Every. Single. Time.

This song will make me weep.

I love the song also, but the line you mentioned troubles me as it is not biblically true. One day we will know as we have been known (1 Cor 13:9-12) And the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth, and teach us all things (Jn 16:13, Jn 14:26) I still love the song, but I weep because people are mislead by a line in a song, instead of embracing the truth of the Word of God.

We probably violate some legal thing, but we sing it, "One day we'll know how much it cost to see our sins upon that cross."
